Bombchu

[Both] - If Link picks up a Bombchu and set it at his feet, this mouse- like bomb will start running. If it hits something while running, or runs for some time without hitting anything, it will explode. You can win these bombs which are infact modelled after the real life Bombchu at the Bombchu Bowling Alley in Hyrule Castle Town.

Bomb

[Both] - A very useful item to say the least. Use bombs to damage enemies by throwing it at them, or blow up walls by placing the bomb next to the wall. Once you pick up a bomb, you have approximately four seconds before it blows up. Be careful! Once you have got a hold of the Bomb Bag (see above) the bombs will show up all over Hyrule.

Boomerang

[Young Link] - With the help of the Boomerang, you can stun or even defeat enemies. When you throw it, the Boomerang will, just like it should, return back to you. Use Z-Targeting for optimum effieciency when fighting enemies with this item. This is the main treasure of the third dungeon, Inside Lord Jabu- Jabu's Belly.

Deku Nut

[Both] - This is a very under-rated item. It is very useful when fighting enemies, as its bright light will stun even the toughest enemies around (still a few that won't be affected however)! You can find the Deku Nuts practicly all over Hyrule.

Deku Stick

[Young Link] - The Deku Sticks works similar to a sword, only they are much weaker and will break swiftly. You can also use it as a torch by holding it towards a flame. These wooden sticks can be found everywhere, or even purchased in many different shops.

Fairy Slingshot

[Young Link] - The slingshot will let you shoot Deku Seeds, you will need a Deku Seed Bag before you can use it however. It is a is very useful item when you want to defeat far- away enemies. This item is the main treasure of the first dungeon, Inside the Great Deku Tree.

Fairy Bow

[Adult Link] - When using the Fairy Bow, you will be able to shoot arrows which will defeat enemies. The bow can even be used while riding Epona. You will find the bow in the first temple as Adult Link, the Forest Temple. As you get further in the game, you will find three different types of magic arrows:

Fire Arrow (2 MP)
The first magic arrow you will find. It is used to burn enemies and melt ice. To get it, stand on the island in the middle of Lake Hylia and shoot an arrow towards the sun when it rises.

Ice Arrow (2 MP)
With this magic arrow, you can freeze enemies and then stand on them. Get all the keys in the Gerudo Training ground to get these magic arrows. You need the Silver Gauntlets and the Lens of Truth.

Light Arrow (4 MP)
These arrows are crucial in defeating Ganondorf, as the power of light is the only thing that can defeat the darkness in him. Free the six sages and you will be rewarded with this item.

Hookshot

[Adult Link] - This hook at the end of an expandable chain will grab on to certain objects, and then swiftly pull Link to that object. A red dot is used for aim, and when the dot does not appear, it means the target is out of range. You will receive the Hookshot from DampĂ© the gravekeeper early in the Adult Link part of the game. Later on you will find the Longshot upgrade, which will give your Hookshot the ability to fire twice as far, inside the Water Temple. This item can even be used to defeat enemies under water!

Lens of Truth

[Both] - With this item you can see fake walls, which you can walk right through, and invisible platforms. Using this item consumes much magic, so be sure to watch your magic meter. The item is located in the Bottom of the Well, and you must open the block, and go there as Young Link.

Magic Beans

[Young Link] - Purchase these beans from the guy that is sitting by Zora's River. Everytime you purchase them, the price will increase by ten rupees. Plant them at certain soft soils, and they will sprout eventually. A magic bean that has sprouted, will turn into a platform which will take you to certain places.

Megaton Hammer

[Adult Link] - This is a legendary item among the Gorons. Move big blocks, activate rusted switches and defeat enemies, all with the Megaton Hammer. You receive it as the main treasure of the Fire Temple.

Fairy Ocarina

[Young Link] - A musical instrument is similar to the Ocarina of Time, but it lacks the same power as the ancient relic. Saria will give you this item once you leave Kokiri Forest for the first time.

Ocarina of Time

[Both] - One of the Royal Family's most sacred relics, and it has been kept secretly within the family for centuries. It has the power of manipulating the flow of time as well as warping you to other locations. Once you have collected all the three spiritual stones, rush back to Hyrule Castle, and you will receive this item from Princess Zelda.

Din's Fire

[Adult Link] - If you find yourself surrounded by enemies, cast Din's Fire and fire will wrap around your body, and kill the enemies close to you. Takes 6MP to use.

Farore's Wind

[Adult Link] - Using this will surround Link with a green light, and the spot where you first use it will be set as a warp point. Using it again, will warp you back to the warp point. Consumes 6MP every time it is used.

Nayru's Love

[Adult Link] - Nayru's Love is used to create a blue, protecting light around Link. No enemies will be able to harm Link when he is surrounded by this light. The light will wear off after a short time. Takes 12MP when used.

Magic Jar

[Both] - These green jars can be found all over Hyrule. They are useful, as they will replenish your magic meter. Jars come in two different sizes, and the biggest one will completely refill your magic meter.

Stone of Agony

[Both] - When you get this magic stone, you will be able to feel your controller rumble when you are close to a secret location. Of course, you will need a rumble pak for you controller for this to work. Collect 20 Gold Skulltula tokens and you will get this stone as a reward.

Gerudo Membership Card

[Adult Link] - With this card, you can proove that you are a valued person to the Gerudo tribe, and therefore walk freely among the Gerudos. You are rewarded with this card after you free the lumberjacks.

Dungeon Map

[Both] - Located inside every dungeon is a map which will let you see all the rooms in the dungeon. Very useful for finding rooms you have not visited.

Dungeon Compass

[Both] - Not the same as the map, but just as useful. Once you have found the compass of a dungeon, you will be able to see all secret treasure cheasts, and you can even pinpoint the location of the dungeon's boss.

Small Key

[Both] - This is a crucial item, as it is needed to advance through the locked doors in every dungeon.

Boss Key

[Both] - It looks fancier than the small key for a reason, this is the key which lets you open the door which leads to the dungeon's boss!

Empty Bottles

[Both] - Bottles are useful as the can be used to carry a variety of things such as milk, medicine and potions. There are four bottles hidden in the game, and here is how to get them:

Catch three super Cuccos at Lon-Lon Ranch.
As Young Link in Kakariko Village, find the Cuccos for the girl who has lost them.
At Lake Hylia, dive into the water as Adult Link, and you will find a bottle containing a letter from Ruto.
Catch all ten big Poes in Hyrule Field and sell them to the guy that lives at the entrance to what used to be Hyrule Castle Town.

Mask

[Young Link] - Even though masks are mostly associated with Majora's Mask, they did appear in Ocarina of Time as well. After going through a trading sequence Link would get access to five different masks from the Happy Mask Shop in Hyrule Castle Town, including the Keaton Mask as shown to the right. Click here for a guide to the mask trading sequence.
