Q: How many gods are there in Sikhi and what are their names? Who is the Sikh God?  

A: The best answer that any Sikh can give regarding this question is by quoting the very first sentence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji - " There exists but one God, who will also be the Truth (ever lasting), The Creator, Free from fear and hate, Immortal, Not begotten, Self- Existent, Great and Compassionate."  

Though God has been mentioned and addressed with many different names in our holy scriptures, all those names however refer to the one and only God. Many people sometimes mistake and categorize God as being 'Hindu God', 'Christian God', 'Sikh God' or 'Muslim God'. According to teachings of Sikhism, this is wrong. To categorize God as being Christian, Hindu, or even Sikh is limiting the existance of God. Interestingly, God has also been referred to using names of God from different religions.
