Two Palestinians have been killed and four others wounded on Thursday in an Israeli strike on the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya .

Initial media reports said that the killed belonged to the Fatah's offshoot, aL-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and that one of those injured had a critical condition

Witnesses said that a missile struck a car, while driving on a road in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia.

Israeli army has been recently engaged in a series of air strikes on Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza, killing dozens of them and injuring many others.

Israel has stepped attacks on Gaza since mid June, after the Islamist Hamas-dominated government has taken complete control over the region amidst fighting with Fatah-loyal security forces.

The Israeli government declared the coastal Strip a 'hostile entity' in September, as power supplies to the region have been cut by almost 50 percent, in what Israel says ' a crackdown on homemade shells fire onto nearby Israeli towns'.

According to Palestinian sources, at least 80 Palestinians, including passersby, have been killed by Israeli army fire over the past four months, while approximately 12 Israelis have been killed due to homemade shells fire in the past three years.
