The prominent Palestinian Muslim figure and leader of the Islamic Movement in the 1948-occupied Palestinian lands Sheikh Raed Salah has unmasked an Israeli " serious scheme" that aims at opening a gate from the Buraq plaza leading directly into the Aqsa Mosque.

In a press conference held in the Turkish city of Istanbul after the conclusion of a massive international gathering for Al- Quds (Jerusalem) held in the city on Thursday and ended on Saturday, Salah asserted that what he was disclosing were Israeli documents he had apparently obtained.

He also underlined that among the documents, there was a memo that was distributed to the Jewish communities all over the world calling on them to support the plan in order to completely occupy the Aqsa Mosque.

Moreover, Salah warned that the current Israeli diggings near the Aqsa Mosque will lead to total destruction of the historical Maghareba Gate, one of the Mosque's gates, which will clear the way before the IOA to open another gate from the Buraq Plaza that will allow Jewish worshippers enter into the Aqsa Mosque.

He also charged that the IOA was planning to build a synagogue "at the expense" of one of the buildings inside the Aqsa Mosque, adding that both plans were part of the scheme and that the budget to achieve that scheme was made available.

Furthermore, Salah pointed out that a number of the tunnels that the IOA dug under the Mosque were discovered despite the IOA attempt to veil them.

The Sheikh also warned that the IOA was planning to confiscate portions of the Rahma (mercy) cemetery, where a number of Sahaba (companions of Prophet Mohammed) had been buried, in order to build a tourist attraction on it.

Since the occupied city of Jerusalem fell under the Israeli occupation in 1967, the successive Israeli occupation governments had been and still are relentlessly trying to demolish the Aqsa Mosque to build the alleged Third Temple on its ruins.

In the year 2000, the former Israeli premier Ariel Sharon, who was then a minister, attempted to desecrate the Mosque under heavy IOF guard, sparking the Aqsa intifada that claimed thousands of Palestinian and Israeli lives.
