GAZA
MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular anti-
sanctions committee, has warned that the Gaza Strip is heading to a human disaster in all fields of life, urging the world to act before it is too late.
Addressing a press conference in Gaza city on the occasion of the international day for solidarity with the Palestinian people, the MP noted that the event this year fell at a time of continued tight siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.
He noted that the number of Palestinians dying due to lack of medical treatment was growing and that the number is expected to increase as Palestinians in serious conditions had reached 1,500 patients. He explained that out of those there are 300 patients in very critical conditions.
Khudari noted that 90 kinds of medicines were out of stock while 40 other kinds were about to meet the same fate.
Doctors are helpless in face of such a situation especially when they used to send critically ill patients abroad for treatment but now the IOF closure of all crossings barred those patients from travel, the independent lawmaker underlined.
He also pointed to the agricultural sector where farmers are deprived of exporting their products especially strawberry and flowers, and added that the number of workers without jobs had reached 140,000.
The MP said that a few days ago he saw a Palestinian child looking for something to eat in the garbage dumps, wondering when will the human rights organizations and all those believing in a dignified life for humans act.
He said that each economic sector in the Strip suffer losses amounting to one million dollars on each day of the siege, and urged the world community to adopt more serious stands towards what is happening in Palestine.
Khudari asked the world media to shed light on the plight of Palestinians and to convey the truth about the IOF siege and its serious ramifications.
