On Wednesday, the Israeli army demolished a Palestinian-owned house to the east of Deir Elbalah city in the central Gaza Strip, media reports and witnesses said.

The two-storey house, which is located on the eastern outskirts of Deir Elbalah belongs to Mohammad al-Kurd and it is the third time this building has been demolished in the past seven years.

Israeli army actions inside Palestinian areas in the Gaza Strip have been on the rise recently, after the Israeli defense minister, Ehud Barak, hinted at a potential large- scale military offensive in the coastal region, as part of what Israel says is ‘an attempt to stop Palestinian resistance groups from firing homemade shells into nearby Israeli towns’.

Israeli media sources reported earlier that the Israeli army will probably begin military attacks on the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip.

In the meantime, at least three people were reportedly injured and a fourth is said to be missing after a tunnel on the Gaza- Egypt border collapsed.

Palestinian Media sources reported recently that some Palestinians use tunnels to access goods and commodities, in a time when the Israeli army has been imposing strict closures on Gaza's crossings, since the Islamist Hamas group took over the region in mid June.
